I would like to escalate further a complaint and prior investigation against {{Redacted}}. No termination was taken, and the investigation was terrible and disappointing as a prior employee.

I, {{Redacted}}, {{Redacted}}, and {{Redacted}} were witnesses of {{Redacted}}, a deli clerk who was drinking a small shot bottle of vodka at Albertson's store number 1936, El Paso, Texas, under store manager {{Redacted}}. {{Redacted}} then threw the bottle away. Dates are between March 20 and 21, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM. She also offered a bottle to me, {{Redacted}}, and {{Redacted}}, assistant manager.

I proceeded to throw away the bottle she offered. {{Redacted}} accepted the bottle.

I have been racially and religiously profiled at acme 5927 ridge Ave Philadelphia PA 19128

Updated by user Sep 07, 2025

I have since acquired the police transcript from citizen app stating A duo white male and description and black female in religious garb and hijab (myself) stealing from acme and loading them into a white Subaru. The police pulled into the parking lot and only isolated me .

3 cars 3 officers 2 men white and Asian and a Female black . They said the store implicated me . And me alone. After the report clearly say A duo.

They allowed the white gentleman ans female white he was with to leave with my groceries. This deliberate isolation from the group is a violation 2nd I was never asked for ID and the other ppl were never even questioned NO ITEMS RECOVERED ALTHOUGH THE OFFICERS STOOD IN FRONT OF THE CAR THE WHOLE TIME AT ANY POINT HAVING THE ABILITY TO RECOVER THE ITEMS I WAS ACCUSED OF STEALING. WHY WAS MY WHITE COUNTERPART DETAINED.. WHY WEREN'T THE ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE SEARCHED And RECOVERED.

WHY WAS I NOT TRESPASSED. WHY WAS I THREATENED JAIL OR PAY AFTER SPENDING 133 THAT DAY.

LET ME ADD I HAVE SPENT 10000/15000 2***-*025 Documented. This is starting to sound like a violation of My civil rights and PROFILING IS A SERIOUS CRIME

Original review Sep 02, 2025
Hello, my name is Kirstan Jones, and I have been a loyal customer at this Acme location for decades, shopping here several times a week since I was a child. I am here to address two serious incidents that have left me feeling humiliated, discriminated against, and wrongfully accused.
First Incident August 8, 2025:
On this day, I came to the store with my best friend, who is also a Black Muslim woman. As we were leaving, both of us were singled out by employee Ed and asked to show our receipts, while no other customers before or after were checked in this manner. We complied, but the experience was publicly humiliating and made us feel profiled due to our race and faith, especially since I was wearing my niqab and had never interacted with this employee before. Despite reporting this and a previous documented incident, I have never received accountability or resolution from management or corporate.
Second Incident August 15, 2025:
On this day, I returned to shop, this time not wearing my niqab, and intentionally approached the same employee Ed to apologize for any prior misunderstanding. After shopping, my friend (a white male), his acquaintance (a white woman), and I left together. My friend took my cart out to the car while I shopped for one more item. Suddenly, three police cars arrived and isolated me—ignoring my companions—accusing me of shoplifting based on supposed camera footage. I was the only person questioned, even though I had not been the one to remove the cart. I was not allowed to view any alleged evidence and was taken to customer service, where Ed searched his phone for matching stolen items and charged me an additional $32, using my rewards points, before allowing me to leave. He further requested that I be trespassed, which the police declined. Meanwhile, my white companions left with the cart and my previously purchased items unbothered.
Why I Am Speaking Out: I have been repeatedly profiled, singled out, and wrongfully accused, while others are not questioned or inconvenienced. My dignity has been undermined, and my loyalty as a customer disregarded. I have documentation and receipts proving my purchases and have experienced significant emotional distress and embarrassment. Racial and religious profiling, and accusing a customer without evidence, may violate civil rights laws and store policy.
What I Am Requesting: A prompt, formal investigation into both incidents and the conduct of all employees involved. An immediate, public apology for the humiliation and harm caused to me and my friend. Assurance that measures will be taken to prevent further discrimination and profiling in this store. Compensation for the damages and distress caused by these repeated incidents.
I am prepared to escalate this further, including involving legal counsel, if my concerns are not taken seriously and resolved appropriately.
Thank you for listening. I expect a thorough review and meaningful response.

Complained

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Went to go shopping walked into Albertsons. I use a handicap cart because Im disabled because of their policy digital coupons.

You have to keep your phone in your hand. Its a little bit hard to drive the car and keep the phone in your hand so I put it in the phone in my top pocket of my shirt. These this man walked up to me asked me a question about Mexican food what he should buy just an and I told them when I thought about it. .

These this man walked up to me asked me a question about Mexican food what he should buy just a and I told them when I thought about it and then I said well I dont have time Im going and I started to dry off his hand came over the back of me and grabbed my phone out of my pocket. My phone got stuck and he chugged my back And my phone came up. I started screaming and he went out the door. I follow him out the drawer there was a manager there and he goes.

Oh he went across the street and hes running that way, and then he proceeded to light a cigarette I went back in the store. I talked to another manager And I said I have to shut my phone off so he came outside with me cause he didnt want me to yell in the store and he proceeded to call my phone company to have my phone shut off. It took about 15 minutes and then the phone was off and I looked at him and I said what about insurance what I was in shock number one I said are you gonna call the police? He said no you didnt get hurt so we dont call on this.

He said you have to go to the police station by yourself and then he said well could I have your name so I gave him my name and my phone number? I said you have to have insurance I was shopping in your store. He said I dont think so. He goes.

Do you know how much stuff we get stolen out of the store and I looked at him and I said thats not my *** problem. My problem is I have an iPhone thats very expensive and I want to be compensated. He said I dont know what to tell you and he left it at that. They never called me back now.

Im afraid to go shopping so I complained about the digital coupons. I said if youre gonna have coupons at least give it dont just say it a sale dont go through the app because people are gonna start getting her and I live in a senior citizen complex so I called my manager and I told her and she said she would take care of it to announce it to the people, but Im pissed because its that happened on August 8 and nothing has been done since then I went to the police station.

The police station said they shouldve called the police and now its we will follow up on this and will let you know what happens in about a week so this coming Monday itll be a week And well see but I want but I didnt know what happens to people are starting to grab things I mean, I felt safe in the grocery store. I dont feel safe anymore.

If the manager called your cell company and you got your phone shut off, why didn’t you use the phone to call the police yourself? The manager cannot make the allegation of what occurred.

I bought Dietz and Watson Uncured Beef Hot Dogs at the Ramona store that were 30 days past expiration date. I returned to store to get replacement and all 10 on the shelf were expired.

This week all of these expired on the date 8/13 when I checked.

I spoke with the stocker and they didnt have newer. I also found other outdated packaged meats as well on 8/13/25

“We don’t give discounts to people like you.”

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We called the corporate office after calling our local Albertsons in our area, after trying to understand what is supposed to be the senior and disabled discount they are reported to offer the first Wednesday of the month with certain stipulations. Our local Albertsons stores in our County wasnt aware of offering, so we called the corporate office to find out what the problem was.

The rep on the service call said; we dont offer discounts to people like you.

We are waiting for a callback from the corporate office to kindly apologize for that quip and explain their policy. No one deserves to be treated like this.

Why are you calling her names?! Elderly people have more rights just as the younger ones.

Just no more name calling!! Respect the elderly people!!

Guest

You know, Ii didn't start off b*tchy. I simply asked what the policy was regarding their program that I saw on no less than 4 websites that cited they had a senior discount day.

What I was attempting to find out is why our local stores knew nothing about it. It was pretty easy question with a simple request to know why our local stores weren't aware that this program was being offered. Simple: yes we offer a program, since it is reported by AARP that it exists, or we need to correct this with AARP and other online companies as to what our policy is. My reaction reared from being told that "people like you" whatever that refers to, singles me and anyone else out calling customer service asking a simple question.

I didn't ask her for disability discount. I mentioned that I was 65 and was eligible for their program and that I was disabled (disclosure). Maybe that was my fault. Look, regardless, they claim all over the net that they offer this program, and when you call customer service; Their response is: "we know nothing about it." Either way snarky answers that discriminate, aren't warranted, and no, I was not angry until them, just blooming confused.

I got angry when after calling twice I was told in the last transaction that I would get a call back that never happened. I called again today, and again assured that someone would call and no one called. So now it is up to me to contact our State Attorney's office to try to get this cleared up? So another words, we can't trust any offers by any companies as to what they claim to offer that is spread allover the internet that offers discounts/services?

I thought we had protections against this kind of treatment.

So please, no more nasty comments, huh? The point is to fix the problem, not grouse as me for getting upset after being called names.

Mary A Gvf

Okay, starting from what happens when people don't read: I said very clearly that we called 2 local stores in the area. I spoke with the managers.

They were surprised to be told there was a senior discount day. I didn't ask for a disabled discount, I asked for a senior discount because I am 65, eligible for the discount (I am disabled besides). AND in any particular case in what world does "We don't give discounts to PEOPLE like you," qualify as an explanation and not require a firing? Beyond this, if the stores are not aware of offering a 55 and over discount day, and offer it, why in the world do they go out of their way to be nasty about it?

It is their discretion to either offer a discount day or not. Either way, the store or corporate at least should make their programs and what they offer CLEAR so people can know what they offer.

AND in either case, they didn't bother to call me back either. So this if other's can't offer support, I hope to GOD they don't get treated the way they treated me by phone.

Guest

55 and over get a senior discount on first Wednesday of the month. Why did you call corporate and just not ask at the store? There is no disability discount.

Mary A Gvf
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-2662050

READ the reply as well as the posting again. I made it very clear what the problem was.

I didn't ask for a DISABLED DISCOUNT, no one offers a disabled discount.

But what was supposed to be offered was a SENIOR DISCOUNT which I did ask two stores in the area and the managers at the store, who had no idea that there was a program available. So what is my job, other than spending all my time informing stores what they are supposed to offer.

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Mary A Gvf

Hag, YOU reread your post. “.....after trying to understand what is supposed to be the SENIOR and DISABLED discount...” Your words!

So don’t say you didn’t ask or didn’t write it when it’s right there. Your argumentative, nasty attitude is what they meant when they said “people like you.”

Look at what I just uncovered about Safeway select bottled water sold at Albertsons.

The source says amirillo Texas municipal water. That's tap water. Please find EWG online that reveals just how contaminated their water supply is then DEMAND this greedy corporation sell water that's not from a known site of contaminated water. Alfartsons here's a quote for you oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive.

Stop shopping at this unethical store. They steal by charging higher prices than the lower price on the shelf because 9 out of 10 xs there's an error in their favor of course so Im DONE SHOPPING AT THIS FILTHY STORE. Heres the info. Arsenic is off the charts in Amarillo thx according to EWG:

They weren't rude and they didn't insult you. Do you not realize this is a public forum?

“That’s tap water.” Albertsons doesn’t label it in any deceptive way. It’s “purified drinking water”right on the bottle.

Drinking water is tap water. It is not claiming polar, Swiss spring or natural mountain.

It is purified by reverse osmosis and added minerals to improve taste. It’s as safe as any bottled water.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In 2024, I cannot recall which month, I am sure that my bank can provide me with that date. I received a text message from my bank around 5:30 AM California time asking me to confirm that I had made a purchase at Albertson.

I did not confirm it as I had not made the purchase. I am glad that I had requested that my bank text me whenever my card is being used so I can confirm the transaction. Later, I called Albertson customer support and reported it. Now, it seems that Albertson has blocked me from using their online shopping.

There is no need to pick on the elderly people. Elderly people have more rights just like the younger people.

Try a little harder to respect the elderly people!!

It’s such a shame that younger people are being so disrespectful towards the elderly people. So be careful and respect the elderly people!!

There is no abuse hag. What a nasty old bitty you are saying that when it is a real circumstance to some people.

Someone stole your banking info and tried getting groceries delivered. Undoubtedly from you clicking on fraudulent links to have free or nearly free offers. Now go back online.

I hear there’s an offer for a free bar of gold if you pay shipping and enter your bank info. There’s even a disclaimer that they pinky-swear to delete your info after.

You reported the card stolen. Of course it has been flagged.

This should be a thank you video to your bank.

Ramona CA. Same with all stores in the US.

I was looking for the general public comments first.

But let's see if you reply.

Been going to this store for a year+ although for weekly family shopping we go to Aldi's. Better prices and don't have to deal with the membership crap.

We needed to pick up several items, it was 5 o'clock so we oten go to Albertson's at such time, spend ~$40 and do so to maybe get a cold French bread for free. (You know the display saying If it's is cold between 4-7 it's Free.) and get it free. Aldi is on the next block.

This time we check out, the person asked, "Well did you check with the bakery for a warm one?".

We're standing there like fools, everyone in line watching. (You know what we mean.)

Said Forget it, almost left the other items.

The sign does not say, "BTW if it's cold leave the line and go check with the bakery."

Manager was nice, we think, but clueless. Made it clear that the bakery is to be checked for a hot loaf.

We're not doing that again.

Let's see if you get it.

I just called Safeway#1883, 103 American Canyon Road, American Canyon, CA 94503 7**-**9-5150 customer service, to ask where I could return containers to get back my California container deposits. I had seen a sign by the entrance saying that there was such a facility on Broadway in American Canyon but hadn't written down its name or exact address as I did not have a pen with me.

The person who answered the phone said, 'We don't do that,' and suggested I call another Safeway store. But of course, all your stores use an outside vendor to accept container returns.

I asked her to look it up or look at the sign, but she said she didn't know, wished me a good day, and hung up on me. This is unacceptable customer service, and I am considering a complaint to the state about how they're allowing stores to pay a fee to get out of accepting returns is working.

Springfield store on Main Street is being managed poorly. - it is dirty and below company standards.

I did not buy the items I wanted to buy due to the condition of the store.

The deli counter - including hot foods and two workers with beard covers (just standing there with no customers) were covered in blackflies. I asked why there were so many flies, they responded that the manager doesnt do anything about it even though they complained to him several times.

No one is buying deli foods in that store!

I wanted to purchase baby back ribs, but instead I turned away in disgust - flies buzzing around and landing on counter, signs, employees.

I approached the store manager, his response was well, we are doing blah blah blah blah blah blah blah about it.

The very young man did not mind that there were no customers in the deli department with three employees just standing around during lunch hour.

Produce in the store was not pleasing to the eye.

Grapes were displayed everywhere on sale - I bought several.

Unfortunately tomatoes were difficult to find - displayed in two tiny sections in the front and the back of the produce department , the ones I did find were squishy and not up to my standards - I did not buy any.

Meat Loaf situation: Huge difference between two stores. the meatloaf in Albertsons on 30th Ave. and Amazon is always properly prepared.

It is cooked at the correct temperature per instructions. it is not the case in the Springfield store. the meatloaf is burnt on the outside and slightly overcooked inside. In order for that to happen the oven must be turned on late and a higher temperature and the meatloaf is not taken out at the required time - reason for that is pure carelessness.

My husband purchased meatloaf from that store on three occasions - all three were pretty burned. To be fair I request refund for one of the meatloaves, as we did eat all three.

We have bought a house in Springfield and moved from Eugene to Springfield about a month ago.

The Albertsons store on 30th Ave. in Eugene is completely different to the store in Springfield.

The deli department in Eugene is always full of people, there is always a line during lunch hour, they follow instructions on how to cook/fry/bake/broil food sold.

This Springfield Albertsons store is below your company standards! You must do something about it youre losing customers!

Pros:
  • Customer for over 40 years
Cons:
  • Badly managed by an experienced young manager

Preferred solution: refund for one meatloaf which was more burned than ever.

User's recommendation: Avoid the deli until the flies are gone, and the meatloaf stops being burned.
